We have an average image size of 110" diagonal. We use the Bose 123 system which has outputs for its own DVD player and for the cable signal that we run through the Bose. We didn't do a lot of research before buying a projector for our television and movie watching pleasure. But we still have a nice crisp image that makes watching TV and movies just fine for us.We have had this for just under 10 weeks and haven't had any bulb issues yet.
This is the one we brought home.Setting it up was very simple. This won't be a technical review because I'm not a major videophile. It's big.We don't even have a screen yet though we've been thinking about the Screen Goo product. I also worry a bit that if something happens to the remote we won't be able to use the projector because there are things you can do with the remote that can't be done with the buttons right on the projector, like turn it off and on. Sometimes we will use a computer if we want to display the output from computer game play.We have this in a 20x20' room.
The image on the wall cannot be nearly as good as on a proper surface. There is a button for that, but the projector only responds to a power command from the remote.Overall we're really happy with this. We went to an electronics store, found the handful that were in our price range and selected the one with the best review averages from various sites. Fingers crossed since I'd rather save money for a proper screen surface.I took off a star because the interface can be annoying. The projector sits on our coffee table at the moment.
it is approximately 13' from the wall where the display is projected. For example - if you change the aspect ratio you have to hit menu again to get the ratio selection off of the screen. We finally have an affordable and portable big screen.
This projector was bought after about two years of research (the time it took to build my basement) - and it is worth every penny I spent on it. It is a great addition to any home theater - esp those wanting a slim form factor projector that is relatively easy to set up and mount.
I did some research on projectors, wanting to stay as much under one thousand that I could. I was going to ceiling mount, but it worked out to have it behind the couch on shelfs with all the HT stuff, and the keystoning is good enough that I am quite pleased I didnt have to ceiling mount. I have a 100" screen going and there is a very small screen door effect.but only if you walk up to the screen. I am very pleased with the result. (buy ultra white 36 foot roll of background paper from your local camera shop and make your own screen(s)).I read some posts about adjusting the default color, saturation, hue settings, and followed them. It is also much smaller than I thought. I was ready to buy the Mitsu HD1600 due to the great price, but a friend that is really into these things recommended this HD65 for the extra one hundred forty at the time. Unlike another post, I actually appreciate that the remote lights up brightly.
I do not have blu-ray yet, but do have HDMI with dvd. Also WOW looks great on the wall. Sitting at normal distance I cannot see it. I 'think' it looks better than the default.I spent 330 to get a HT receiver that has tru pass through hdmi and switching for other video connections.to reduce the cables that need to go to the projector. An excellent product.
But even in small spaces it can produce a fairly large picture. I did a lot of research before buying this projector. The image is stunning. There are some limitations, like its placement. Great for travel. Even with standards DVDs.
I strongly recommend this. And I was very very satisfied with it. Much bigger than a LCD display. If you use it with Bluray, you won't be going to the movies very often. Everyone I have invited to watch concerts or movies in it was blown away. Also, it is so light and small you can take it anywhere in your backpack.
Definetely worth it.
Did a minor amount of research before settling on this product, It had the highest rated contrast that I saw in the sub $1000 range. I have used it in daylight with indirect light and It was usable. In a darkened room it is very nice. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase.
